Ok, I got it! — HP Printer PJL

Well, if you read my previous post, my times with the PJL havent been too good..

Anyways, here are a few commands you might find handy:

@PJL RDYMSG display = “replace ready message”

@PJL OPMSG display = “put printer offline and show me”

Those are my favorite two, after just reading for like 3 min, seems easy enough.. Now, you wonder; what do i type in, how do i do this?

Well, its easy.. Open telnet, and telnet to port 9100 on the printer..

You will see nothing, its ok, type the following in:

\e%-12345X\@PJL JOB

@PJL RDYMSG display = "Offline cause Im gay like that"

\@PJL EOJ
\e%-12345X

--------------------------------------------------------------------

HP Printer gone wrong..

Well, at my school, they have HP printers, and they have displays.. So, you know, its fun to mess with teachers, so I used the HP Printer display hack, and even compiled my own version of it.. It was fun..

But then, I remember, once you can connect to it with telnet, you can do almost anything.. So I went in and made the default print amount 999… lol..

It seems that I didnt end the @PJL BOJ and so, whenever i typed anything into the telnet, it printed it out 999 times.. So, yaknow, i would have stopped it, but the bell rang..

I now hope to learn more info on the PrinterJobLanguage, and do more pranks, but not something like that, 999 sheets of paper is a waste..

If you know anything about this, let me know..

Well I am tryign to compile my ascent server, but of course something went wrong.. I need the MySQL Dev Libraries, which I cant find for mac

So

I have been looking at the HP PJL and I found this program to change what it says on any newer HP Laster printer with a display! Of course I had to try it out at school and I did!

And it works…My school is to stupid to lock up their printers, lol.. All I had to do was press the “test” button on the box connected to the printer and I got the IP address..It turns out besides just  changing what it says from the program there is a web interface on it! 

I opened internet explorer to the ip address and I got right in, I couldnt change the message because it isnt “supported” by HP but if i wanted to I could lock everyone out of the printer and change the admin password, as well as make the display say “Your Screwed!” 

Now how funny would that be lol
I am trying to find more hacks for the school’s active directory server and if you have eny send them to me (or comment them) and I will post them if they work for me!

I dont know who you are, and why you are reading my blog. But I know that I can’t wait for christmas, or my birthday… This is because in Febuary (near my birthday) apple.com is FINALLY releasing the iphone/ipodtouch SDK that allows people to make real apps, instead of hacking it. I may be gettign an ipod for christmas, so it all fits in…

I am not going to hack my ipod because the SDK is comming out so shortly after i get it, i figure: “Why risk bricking my ipod if in a month i can put apps on it anyways” so i hope you see my point…

Also you guys need to give me topics to talk about on my new blog… I dont wanna make my self look stupid LOL
